About us

At Ethical Trekking Sumatra, we believe that the best adventures leave a positive impact on both people and nature. Based in Bukit Lawang, North Sumatra, we specialize in ethical orangutan trekking and authentic jungle adventures within the world-famous Gunung Leuser National Park, one of the last remaining rainforests where critically endangered Sumatran orangutans still live in the wild.

Our team consists of experienced local guides who were born and raised around the rainforest. With years of guiding experience and extensive knowledge of the jungle, we provide safe, responsible, and unforgettable trekking experiences while sharing the rich biodiversity, wildlife, and culture of Sumatra.

Ethical tourism is at the heart of everything we do. We strictly follow responsible wildlife viewing practices by respecting natural animal behavior, keeping safe distances from orangutans and other wildlife, and helping preserve the rainforest for future generations. Every trek also supports local families, guides, porters, cooks, drivers, and community-based tourism initiatives, ensuring that the benefits of tourism remain within the local community.

Whether you choose a one-day jungle trek or a multi-day camping adventure, our goal is to create meaningful experiences that connect travelers with nature while promoting conservation and sustainable tourism.

Join Ethical Trekking Sumatra and discover the incredible beauty of Gunung Leuser National Park through responsible travel, expert local guidance, and unforgettable encounters with wild orangutans in their natural habitat.
